Noele’s Application Form ‘Hot Tips’ From The NHS
I recently met with Noelle McKay, NHS Recruitment, to discuss three key areas to consider when making an application: 1) what an employer looks for 2) the application procedure 3) the interview. This week I thought it would be very useful to repeat the application procedure hints and tips. We all have to complete an application form at some time and it can either make or break your chances. This interview should help address some of the key issues into completing a successful application and hopefully help you gain your chosen career.
Heidi's Work With The Wise Group
The last in the series of interview with the Lookahead Project is with Heidi McGregor, former speech therapist who overcame a disability to kick start her career again after having to give up her speech therapy post by re-training to become a Yoga Therapist. Heidi successfully holds Yoga classes in her local community and providing help and support to those in need. Another truly inspirational interview.
Put this in your diary, Friday, August 27th, 12 – 2pm: The Careers Show will be making history by broadcasting ‘Live’ from the Science Centre, Glasgow. The Careers Show team of Laura Braden, Kenny Coyle (technician for 3tfm) and myself will be interviewing pupils, companies, universities, colleges and anyone else who is willing to contribute to the show. Hope you can join us on this exciting event.
We had a great time at Big on the Beach
We would like to say a big thank you to Irvine Bay Regeneration Company for inviting 3TFM Community Radio along to Big On The Beach last week to provide the music. All the gang from 3TFM really enjoyed the experience, and the weather was not too bad either.Everyone who attended seemed to be enjoying all the activities that were there, and we also had some nice comments about 3TFM as well. So thank you everyone who came up to say hello.
International Vinyl Day on 3TFM on Thursday 12 Aug 2010
On Thursday 12 August 2010 3TFM Community Radio will be celebrating International Vinyl Day. This means that most of our Presenters will be looking out their old 45's and LP's to play on the radio station. We are lucky here on 3TFM as we still have good old fashioned record decks to play with. I can think of a few stations that are totally digital and wont be able to participate in the fun of this day. So tune in on Thursday 12 Aug to see who is the first Presenter to get a record to jump or skip. Only on 3TFM Community Radio.
What’s On This Week? Friday 6th August , 2010
Another World Record Broken By Don
Over the past year i have featured a number of people on my radio show highlighting their ‘life and careers, so far’ and I have great news regarding one guy and his team achieving a new world record crossing the Atlantic. Don Lennox was part of that team and we at the careers show take great pride in being a part of this historic occasion. Don was a main feature on the show last year highlighting his record breaking achievements and attempts.
Using Martial Arts to Keep Off the Streets
This week we have the third and last of our sports students feature from Kilmarnock College and something a bit different. Colin Cuthbert is an International Karate Champion and his dream is to set up his own Martial Arts business and put something back into the community and hopefully steer more people away from the temptations of the street. Colin says that “ ..if it was not for my martial arts interest, God knows where I would have ended up.” Interested in sports? Why not follow Colin’s life so far and be inspired. As part of the regular features on adults gaining support for employment and education, I dropped into a local Wise Group project called Look Ahead to meet some of the trainees involved in the project. Over the coming weeks, I will be featuring four interviews with the trainees talking about their life and careers so far and how they are overcoming personal difficulties on the path back to possible education and employment. This weeks interview is with Eleanor Chapman, former community centre worker and mother of six Children. Hear Eleanor tell of her life and career so far and how the project helped her overcome some difficulties and hopefully back into helping others in her community. Another truly inspirational interview. By the way, Last weeks interview was well received.
Coming soon: next week, a group of trainees from Momentum will be in the studio ‘live’ presenting their life and careers and what Momentum is doing to support. An insight into the Saltire Foundation and a special on the current hit sensation ‘dance’. I will covering a full feature on YDance soon. And, the interview with alternative medicine guru Jan de Vries.
Also : The Job Centre Plus Vacancies. and great music and Norma Jean
