The Careers Show-Friday 23rd July
What’s On This Week?
The Making of a Festival
People always say to me “how do you set up a festival?”. So, I thought, the best way to answer that question would beto meet the people at the ‘coal face’ so to speak. Joanne Mcadams and myself spent a full weekend interviewing for example founder member of the Wickerman Festival, Syd Ambrose, who tells how the festival came about and how it has successfully grown over the past nine years from a small Community Youth Group idea to its current standing in the Scottish festival scene. You will also hear other exclusive interviews with roadies, lighting and DJ’s.
Sometimes, when you speak to people about sports, they tend
to enquire about the so called popular sports such as football and rugby
but a trip to Kilmarnock College Centre for Sports Excellence revealed that most of the students had interests in far wider sports such as tennis,
badminton, karate and netball to name a few.
As part of the regular features on adults gaining support for employment and education, I dropped into a local Wise Group project called Look Ahead to meet some of the trainees involved in the project. Over the coming weeks, I will be featuring four interviews with the trainees talking about their life and careers so far and how they are overcoming personal difficulties on the path back to possible education and employment. This weeks interview is with a former WRAF and electronics worker now hoping to use the skills gained on the project to further her opportunities. A truly inspirational interview
No Job Centre Plus Vacancies this week due to holidays,
